Donovan Burton - B.EnvPlan - Hons 1.

 

Donovan Burton leads the Climate Planning team and is one of Australia’s most experienced climate change planners. Over the past five years he has been lead author and project manager for climate change projects for more than twenty five local governments in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.  He has also worked closely with state agencies, infrastructure providers and insurers, undertaking a range of climate change adaptation services. 

Overall Donovan has worked on over 40 climate change adaptation projects.  Donovan specialises in helping cities and businesses consider effects and opportunities presented by a confluence of climate change and oil vulnerability.  Donovan is an environmental planner with a first class honours, a recipient of a Wentworth Scholarship and a part-time PhD candidate with Griffith University’s Urban Research Program.   

 

Pazit Taygfeld - (Associate) B.EnvPlan - Hons 1.

Pazit is an oil vulnerability and climate change analyst with a breadth of experience in sustainability and environmental management.   Pazit is an environmental planner with a first class honours on Local and State Government responses towards peak oil. She has worked on numerous climate change projects with local councils and is a speacialist in finding planning solutions for low carbon economies and climate change. 

In the past Pazit has consulted to Climate Risk on climate change and peak oil projects for Darebin City Council, Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Mitcham City Council, Logan City Council and Scenic Rim Regional Council.  During her work for the Griffith University Urban Research Programme Pazit was the lead author of a report on oil vulnerability for the Queensland Department of Transport and is also the co-author of a number of reports on sustainable tourism. Pazit has also worked for Redland Shire Council, developing land management plans for conservation areas.

Dr Peter Best (Associate)

Peter is the Director of Cindual Pty Ltd and is an associate of Climate Planning. Most of Peter's career has focussed on the evaluation of the impacts of extreme events, ranging from air pollution episodes, heatwave impacts on energy demand generation and distribution, influences of climate variability and change on the characteristics of extreme events to the forecasting of imminent risks. 

In the past decade, Peter has become increasing involved in climate adaptation projects, in association with a university and two climate risk specialist companies.

The industries covered Peter's thirty years of consulting and research experience have included  power (generation, transmission, supply) and industrial processing of all types, intensive livestock, mining, cropping, waste processing and environmental management, renewable energy (especially wind resources), water resource planning and transport.

 

Scott Shearer (Associate) B.EnvPlan, Master Social Science

Scott Shearer is an environmental and social planner who specialises in community and stakeholder engagement, needs assessments, community and social infrastructure planning, and public space planning.  Specifically, Scott’s expertise, skills and interest is planning for young people and teenagers’ needs, and their participation in the planning process.  With six years experience, nationally and internationally, across private, public, and non-government sectors, he has been involved in numerous social and community planning projects, ranging from regional and city wide scale to local level and site specific.
